Wait a minute? Almost the same photo here? What happened??
Well, as you know, for our “challenges” Liz and I decide on a recipe and then cook or bake it on our separate continents. We don’t show each other the final picture until we are both done. So apparently this week we both had a very similar idea. I guess the name of the cookie “Bärentatzen” (bear paws) triggers the idea of putting the cookies like foot prints.
I had never made “Bärentatzen” before. I liked how they were very easy to make but I don’t think I will make them again. They tasted kind of healthy without really being healthy. I think they work well for kid’s birthday parties because of their cute look. Liz, did you and your family like them?
I especially liked the cute name “Bear Paws”, but thought the cookies were a bit dry. I had to laugh when I saw your picture, Jewels. Usually our pictures are so different, but this time we both had the same idea, also using the same angle and the same background! So sometimes recipes do turn out almost the same way, even on two continents!
Recipe “Bear Paws”
75g dark chocolate
50g rolled oats
40g powdered sugar
100g ground almonds
1 table spoon of coco powder
2 egg whites
1 hint of salt
a few almonds
Preheat oven to 180° Celsius (350° Fahrenheit). Melt the chocolate. Mix the oats, the powdered sugar, the almond flour, the flour and the coco in a large bowl. Whip the egg whites with the salt until stiff and mix in with the dry ingredients. With a spoon form little flat balls and add three almonds to make them look like paws. Bake for 12-15mins.
