The outside is getting colder so the drinks are getting warmer – and faster. I really like mulled wine and hot apple cider. This Mulled Pear Wine is a beautiful version of both. My little vegetable store didn’t have pears today, so I replaced them with apples, which tasted very good as well!
So Jewels cheated a little bit and exchanged the pear for an apple – but isn’t it great how easily you can adjust a recipe if it doesn’t quite fit? You just shouldn’t be afraid. And after having a few glasses of this drink you probably don’t even care if it’s a pear or an apple swimming in your glass! Prost!
1 l unfiltered apple juice
1 ripe pear, sliced
1 cinnamon stick + some more for serving
3 cardamom pods
1,5 tablespoons brown sugar
juice of 2 limes
200 ml dark rum
Pour the apple juice into a pot, add the pear slices, cinnamon stick, cardamom and sugar. Add the lime juice of one lime and boil, simmering until the sugar has dissolved. Cut up the second lime into slices and place them in the glasses. Fill up the glasses, divide the rum into five portions and add to each glass, and decorate with cinnamon sticks.
