Honestly I am not sure what the difference really is. To me lemons are yellow and limes are green and they both taste sour. I have a big bag of limes here at home, so why go buy lemons just because the recipe is asking for it? Nah…
I don’t know what Liz‘ Lemon Cake tastes like over there in Germany but my Lime Cake over here tastes amazing. I just had three slices all by myself. The crust is very buttery and crunchy and the filling is light and refreshing. A super combo! And the best part: It took me zero grocery shopping because the ingredients are things you usually have at home and it only took about 10 mins of prep time to make it. Plus some baking time in the oven. Now that’s the kind of baking I like! What about you, Liz, did you use lemons or limes?

I used lemons, because I had them on hand (and because the recipe asked for lemons!!). I also ate the first three pieces all by myself! It was SO delicious! My aunt and cousins gave me the recipe last year after they made the cake for dessert for christmas. I changed it a bit, used more lemon juice and less sugar than their recipe asked for and I think it’s a great, easy recipe. And good thing I now know it also works with limes. So if anyone has either lemons or limes in stock: Try this recipe! (And if anyone happens to know the real difference between these little sour green and yellow creatures, tell us! 😉
