Here is the spot you should check out: Mast Brothers. They handcraft wonderful chocolate in their Brooklyn factory. So all those globe trotters out there, fly to NYC, take the L train to Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg, and walk south. At some point you will be able to just follow your nose because the chocolate smell is so intense. The best thing is: Once you made it there, they let you try their entire chocolate selection.
Most of their chocolates are pretty creative! Mast Brothers, which is founded by two bearded brothers from Iowa, produce around ten flavors, from a blend of almond and sea salt to the popular salt-and-pepper bar. Each is wrapped in gold foil and thick paper in vintage-inspired floral, paisley, and patterned prints.
Definitely worth a visit! They are located on 111 N 3rd St, New York, NY 11211, right next to the German Radegast Biergarten.
Oh and by the way: Mast Brothers just published their first cookbook, that includes recipes with chocolate in all different ways, wonderfully photographed! I can’t wait to get a hand on my own copy.
