Some might call it soup. I call it The White Chowder Chili. My family loves this dish. I invented it to compete in the Chili in the Willy Cook off this year. It is a local contest where people from Williamsburg come together to show off their chili cooking skills. This year 19 chilis competed, but my chili won 3 out of the 4 categories! It didn’t win Best Chili, but it won Worst Chili, Most Creative Chili and Miss Congeniality. I was so proud of all of the 3 categories. My „soup“ was basically the star of the entire event one might humbly say. Liz seemed a little unimpressed, but her daughter Selma loved it so much, she put the corn in her nose so deeply that it had to be removed by a doctor in the hospital. I don’t blame her for trying anything she could to get it into her body. It is THAT good. And yes, I am willing to share the recipe:
Heat olive oil in a large pot. Add
- 1 onion
- some brown sugar
- salt and pepper
Fry in low heat. Add
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 1 minced jalapeno
- 1 diced carrot
- 1 green pepper
- 1 sliced celery
- 3 large diced potatoes
Fry at medium heat for about 10 minutes. Add
- 1 cup of white wine
- 1 cup of vegetable broth
- 1 cup of cream or milk
Let cook for another few minutes. Then add
- 1 can of corn
- 1 can of white beans (or any kind of other beans)
- minced cilantro
jewels, my beloved „Miss Congeniality“
it sounds like a real good autumn meal…will wait till autumn and then cook it…or wait till you gonna cook it for me!
